A life of service and learning
After graduating from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1968, Dr. Behm served as an Army dentist in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He later practiced in the Palm Beach area before settling on Florida’s Gulf Coast in the 1990s. Throughout his career he pursued advanced education to help patients achieve better health—not just better teeth.
A pioneer in mercury-free, biologic dentistry
Long before it was common, Dr. Behm stopped placing mercury amalgam fillings (in 1986) and stopped performing root canals (in 1994), aligning his clinical choices with his understanding of biocompatibility and whole-body effects. He became known for integrating natural/holistic dentistry with neuromuscular principles—an uncommon combination at the time—and for educating patients on nutrition, structure, toxicity, and their role in total health.
Teacher, mentor, and colleague
Dr. Behm studied with and learned from many notable clinicians and researchers, including Hal Huggins, DDS; Dietrich Klinghardt, MD; Boyd Haley, PhD; Phil Mollica, DMD; Robert Hughes, DDS; Dr. Yoshiaki Omura; Dr. Norman Thomas; Dr. Stephen Shankland; Heidi & Bill Dickerson, DDS; and Wally Schmidt, DDS. He also drew inspiration from early health visionaries such as Weston A. Price, DDS; Francis Pottenger, MD; and Royal Raymond Rife.
