Holistic Dental Hygiene Tips

Call Us Today

Many people today are looking for holistic or natural ways to improve their health. Luckily, there are some very easy ways to incorporate holistic or natural habits into your dental hygiene routine. Here are some of the best holistic dental hygiene tips.

Easy and Holistic Oral Health

There are some things you can do for your oral health that are practical and require little effort. Make sure that you brush your teeth twice a day at a 45-degree angle. You can use a non-toxic, fluoride free all-natural toothpaste to brush your teeth. You can clean your gums with an oral irrigator and be sure to use a chemical-free dental floss. Getting plenty of sleep and staying hydrated can also help your oral health.

Eating healthy is another way that you can improve your dental hygiene. A diet rich in alkaline foods such as plenty of leafy greens will help you maintain a good body pH, which can substantially improve your oral health.

Natural and Holistic Alternatives

If you prefer natural and holistic products, there are some alternatives to floss, toothpaste, and mouthwash that you can use to improve your dental hygiene. Instead of using store-bought mouthwash, you can rinse your mouth with sea salt-water with a drop of clove or mint essential oil. There are also holistic toothpastes that eliminate harsh chemicals and replace them with natural solutions like neem, licorice, eucalyptus, clove, and peppermint. You can also purchase tea tree oil dental floss, which is much more natural than the chemical-laden alternatives.

Additional Holistic Dental Hygiene

You can do some additional things to help improve your oral health naturally. Tongue scraping is an excellent practice that removes harmful bacteria from your mouth. Oil pulling is swishing coconut oil (or an alternative in case of allergy) through and in between the teeth. This removes toxins from the oral cavity in a natural way.
